Steamboat Geyser in the Norris Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park has produced several eruptions between 300 and 400 feet in height.

Three volcanoes share this title. Tamu Massif is the most massive. Mauna Kea is the tallest. Ojos del Salado is the highest. A tsunami with a record run-up height of 1720 feet occurred in Lituya Bay, Alaska On the night of July 9, 1958, an earthquake along the Fairweather Fault in the Alaska Panhandle loosened about 40 million cubic yards (30.6 million cubic meters) of rock high above the northeastern shore of Lituya Bay. This mass of rock plunged from an altitude of approximately 3000 feet (914 meters) down into the waters of Gilbert Inlet (see map below).

In this slide a 400-square-mile slab of Madison Limestone was detached, started to slide and broke into dozens of smaller pieces. Some of these pieces moved over 30 miles during the slide.

The wave killed 61 people in Hawaii, 138 in Japan, and 32 in the Philippines. At over 400 meters below sea level, it is the land area with the lowest elevation. The motions of the African and Arabian Plates, combined with the motion of shear-zone faulting has resulted in the formation of the deep Dead Sea Depression.
